After Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, it is Kamal Haasan’s turn to jump into NFT (Non Fungible Tokens) bandwagon in India. Most common thing between them is that they are all superstars since 1980’s. Whenever there is new thing coming to the market, it will always be the youngsters who take the first dip. But the NFTs are first adapted by these everlasting superstars. The biggest reason should be their quest to replicate the successes they realized through the 80’s movie madness.

The millennials may not know much about the frenzy of the moviegoers and diehard fans of silver screen gods of the 80’s. Kudos to these stars who are making these innovative steps to recreate the magic of old times.

How will NFTs help recreate old times?

Movie fans of yesteryears adored their heroes and their roles. They are known for the characters they portrayed too. Amitabh Bachchan is remembered as ‘angry young man’ for his roles in Zanjeer, Deewar, Trishul and Sholay. Kamal Haasan is equally known for his roles of Velu Naicker in Nayagan, Appu in Aboorva Sagotharargal, Guna in Guna and Saket Ram in Hey Ram and so is Salman Khan known for his roles as Prem Nath in Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg, Sultan Ali Khan in Sultan and Veer Pratap Singh in Veer. There cannot be a better gift to their fans than making them exclusively own the stills, pictures, posters and clips of Inspector Vijay Khanna (Zanjeer), Velu Naicker or Appu or Sultan or Veer Pratap Singh. That’s where NFTs come into play.

With the platforms Beyondlife, Bollycoin and Fantico, these Indian top matinee idols Amitabh, Salman and Kamal will be next seen facilitating their fans to own their favourite pictures and show off as profile pictures in their social media accounts like Twitter, Whatsapp, Telegram, Facebook, and Instagram. They will also be able to trade those pictures amongst themselves. That way there will be a craze generated among film fans to own a part of their superstars. And that’s what the Movie Madness of 80’s is all about. You talk about the stars. You walk them. You breathe them.

Who is ahead in the NFT race?

The NFT race has just started and we will soon see all the big heroes fighting it out for the big pie. Also since it is very new field with huge potential, it is not easy to pick the frontrunner even though it was Amitabh Bachchan who made the first move. Salman Khan’s Bollycoin is the first to launch with a cryptocurrency feature and now Kamal Hassan claimed to be the first to enter Metaverse. Also worth mentioning is the Misfitz by Sunny Leone which is a collection of 9,600 unique NFTs, making her the first female bollywood star to participate in NFTs. We will soon see a lot of firsts in the NFT markets – fodder for the fans to fight about – just like the 80’s. Nevertheless it will offer a great investment opportunity with art in mind.
